Chefchaouen:

The “blue city” of Chefchaouen, built high on the hillside in the gray Rif mountains, is a world apart from its larger, Spanish -style neighbours. Life’s pace here seems somehow in tune with the surrounding mountain sides, abundant natural springs, wildflowers and low-lying clouds.

Chefchaouen is unlike any other place in Morocco, from its people’s dress to the signature blue-washed houses lining its narrow streets . Not even the newest features of modern influence will tarnish the feeling of everyday life in motion .It is an ideal place to wander a tiny medina, walk up into the looming mountains, and sip mint tea in an open square.

Day trip from Fes:

Program:

Discover the blue city of Chefchaouen in Morocco during a day trip from Fes via the plain kissing the foothills of the Rif Mountains. When there you will have the chance to stroll through the blue-washed houses and alleys while  enjoying the charming and unique atmosphere.

We begin our adventure from Fez to Chefchaouen and we will discover a few little towns and farming territories while driving through the  Rif Mountains. This is a lush hilly landscape of valleys dominated by typical Mediterranean vegetation and rock formations. Its  limpid and fresh air invites you to wander and enjoy the beauty of this national natural park.

Arrive at Chefchaouen, start our walking tour while observing the moves of passers-by and the beauty of the Great Mosque opposite to the Kasbah and restaurants niched all inside the Houta square. A few steps further are the Makhzen Square with the public car park, from where you can take an alley that leads to the north-east to Bab el-Ansar and the source of Ras el-Maa, one of the vibrant places in Chaouen. From there you can hike uphill  to the top small mosque, Jemaa Bouzafar from Ras el-Maa for a glorious sunset while looking over the blue city.
